This fun-filled encounter includes an educational demonstration meeting and learning about a Lizard, Snake, Tortoise, Parrot, Small Mammal, Tarantula, Scorpion, Beetle, & at least 2 more awesome insects (A total of a dozen animals, some of which guests will be able to pet), plus Q & A. It’s an educational and fun event that is perfect for kids and families, offering a unique opportunity to learn about and interact with various animals.

The Lake Charles Community Band is gearing up for an electrifying series of concerts this summer, and we are thrilled to share the details with you! As a representative of the band, I am excited to announce our upcoming “Catch a Concert Series” in collaboration with McNeese State University’s Department of Performing Arts.

With immense gratitude to McNeese State University, we are delighted to host our concerts at the prestigious Tritico Theater in June. These events are open to everyone and completely free of charge, making them perfect for families, music enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a delightful evening of entertainment.

ANNUAL MEN’S CITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

WHERE: Mallard Golf Club, 3470 Morganfield Dr, Lake Charles, LA 70607

WHAT: Head over to Mallard Golf Club will host the 45th Annual Men’s City Golf Championship. This year’s championship will feature a 54-hole stroke play event for the Championship Flight and a 36-hole stroke play event for all other flights. Entry fee is $180 and includes golf fees (tournament rounds and one practice round), tee gift, lunch on tournament days and prizes.

Registration is open through Wednesday, June 19, 2024. All flights will be determined by USGA handicap index with the exception of the Senior and Super Senior flights. The Senior Flight is for golfers ages 50-64 years old, and the Super Senior Flight is for golfers 65 and older.

Spectators are encouraged to attend. There is no admission fee; however, carts may not be available to spectators.

Opened in October 2021, Mallard Golf Club is located at 3470 Morganfield Drive, Lake Charles, LA 70607. The course features a unique landscape that lends itself to a fast, flat golfing experience.

CHARLESTOWN FARMERS MARKET (DOWNTOWN) - LAKE CHARLES

WHEN: Every Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

WHERE: Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center, 1001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601

WHAT: The Downtown Charlestown Farmers Market happens each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and highlights Louisiana-made products, including grains such as brown jasmine rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats, gumbo, canned goods, baked goods, plants, and homemade arts and crafts, and boutique clothing and jewelry shops.

The first Saturday of the month is Meet Me at the Market, where food trucks and live music also accompany the market. The market is pet and family-friendly.

MOSS BLUFF FARMERS MARKET

WHAT: Shop local at the Moss Bluff weekly farmers market where you’ll find locally produced goods including grass fed beef and pork, BBQ, Jalapeno Mustard, Salsa, Jellies, Pickles, sugar free ellies, fresh bread, stuffed breads, baby items, wood crafts, hand sewn items, caramel popcorn, cookies, homemade soaps, custom artwork, and more seasonal items from 30+ vendors each weekend.

Located in front of Little Bit of This and That Monograms and next to McDonald’s.

WESTLAKE FARMERS MARKET

WHAT: The Westlake Farmers Market is held every Saturday outside of Miller’s Super Saver (1514 Sampson St, Westlake, LA 70669)—weather permitting.

CASH & CARRY FARMERS MARKET - LAKE CHARLES

WHAT: The Cash & Carry Farmers Market happens each Tuesday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at the beautifully restored historic Cash & Carry building on the corner of Enterprise and Broad in downtown Lake Charles.

Here, you will enjoy a unique market experience with friendly vendors from Lake Charles and the surrounding area, providing fresh and locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and other homemade products like bread, jams, and jellies.

The market experience includes live music from locals as they entertain us with the homegrown sounds of some great bluegrass and zydeco tunes.
